Consider what community would be nicest to raise a family in before you start your rent to own.
Settling down in a home with your family in a nice neighborhood is part of the American dream.

It's a big accomplishment to finally purchase a home, but usually you don't find out what the neighborhood is like until you move in. When you rent to own, you can test out your neighborhood before committing to purchase a home.

You commit to renting out your dream home for a one to three-year lease term. Then, at the end of the lease term, you can decide whether or not you want to purchase the property. While there are many factors that will go into your decision to purchase your lease-option property, the kindness of your neighbors should be a factor.

But to start, you need to decide which city you want to rent to own in. In this post, we'll detail the nicest and the rudest cities in America. WalletHub ranked 100 American cities based on how well they care for the:

  • community
  • vulnerable
  • workforce

After considering those three criteria, the following 10 cities were ranked at the top of those analyzed.

  5. Minneapolis, Minnesota
  6. St. Paul, Minnesota

However, one interesting callout is that while Scottsdale ranked as first for protecting the vulnerable, it ranked 95th for protecting the workforce.

What Are the Top 10 Rudest Cities in America

Researchers ranked these as the 10 rudest cities in the United States. Interestingly, some of the top 10 rudest cities ranked better in a few of the categories than the top 10 nicest. For example, #7 on the nicest list (Freemont, California), ranked lower for caring in the workplace than #9 on the rudest list (Albuquerque, New Mexico). Albuquerque's workplace ranking was 23rd, and Freemont's was 41st.

  2. San Bernadino, California
  3. Laredo, Texas
